Thanks to Geofencing, terneo knows when no one is in the house and automatically turns off the heat

The new Geofencing feature became available to all users of the terneo SX, terneo AX, terneo BX, terneo RZX thermostats with the update of the terneo mobile app in September 2022. For those who have purchased the thermostat of this series earlier, we hope this feature will be a pleasant surprise and a new stage in energy saving. 

Use energy only when you need it

Geofencing fundamentally changes the usage pattern towards savings. Thanks to her, the heating will only work when one of the users is at home. Geofencing does not replace scheduled heating, but complements and enhances it. For example, if according to the schedule the heating should be turned on, but you had to leave urgently, then terneo will turn off the heating while you are not at home.

More control, less settings

The ability to change the temperature through the app sounded great until the ability to delegate this task appeared! According to statistics, users do not always have the opportunity and desire to constantly control the turning on and off of the warm floor! Now the owners of terneo Smart thermostats can relax, and the thermostat itself will take care of optimizing the cost of underfloor heating.

What temperature is better to choose for the period of your absence

If you use underfloor heating as additional heating, we recommend that you select the heating off in the Geofencing settings while you are away. If the underfloor heating serves as the main heating, select a lower temperature during your absence, but do not turn off the heating completely.

Geofencing takes into account the location of all connected users

To optimize Geofence performance, select the radius around the house in the settings, as well as the waiting time in case you return as quickly as possible. Thus, when it sees that the last user has moved away from home, for example, 50 meters, terneo will count 15 minutes and turn off the heating. As soon as one of the users returns to a radius of 50 meters, heating will resume.

Using a Wi-Fi network for Geofencing to work correctly

The terneo app also has the ability to track your location over a Wi-Fi network if you suddenly have a problem with Geolocation, for example, due to poor satellite connection while indoors. When using a Wi-Fi network, Geofencing is not activated and thereby saves the battery of your smartphone, as well as ensures the correct, uninterrupted operation of Geofencing.

If you have several SMART thermostats 

Geofencing can be set for the entire group of your SMART thermostats or only for some of them. You can copy the Geofencing settings and apply them to other groups of devices, such as those located in the country house, with just a few clicks.   

Push notifications to track heating status

For additional information, you can enable push notifications in the application. Then terneo will notify you when the heating is switched on/off associated with a change in your location.

We pay special attention to the protection of the user's personal data

It is important to note that the terneo application does not collect, store or share your data with third parties. In the case of using the Geofence function, all location data is collected by the system of your Android or iOs smartphone. And already on the basis of the data collected by the system, terneo controls the heating.
